INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION
A trusted standard
Training in the Orton-Gillingham Approach equips practitioners to tailor instruction to each learner’s needs.
The Academy does not provide training; it only certifies and accredits. This keeps training and the certification process separate.
All training is completed under a Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
FROM CLASSROOM TO MENTOR
There are four certification levels:
The Classroom Educator level trains teachers in general education settings to provide literacy instruction for entire classes or small groups that need extra support.
See requirementsThis is the starting point for most educators interested in formal training in the Orton-Gillingham Approach in order to work one-on-one with students.
See requirementsFor practitioners who have completed Associate, the Certified level training provides the skills needed to teach advanced language skills to struggling readers of all ages including those with dyslexia and more complex needs.
See requirementsThe Fellow level prepares practitioners who have completed both the Associate and Certified levels of training to design and deliver Orton-Gillingham training courses at all certification levels.
